La Poste du Louvre
Initial situation
It took almost ten years to remodel the historic Poste du Louvre building in the heart of Paris according to the plans of architect Dominique Perrault. The result is a new meeting place for the residents of the neighbourhood that elegantly combines tradition and modernity.
In addition to a 5-star hotel, a restaurant and numerous shops, the spacious building also combines social housing, a daycare centre and a police station under its roof terrace with a bar and phenomenal view over Paris. The historic post office – one of the oldest and most important in France and the only one open around the clock – is of course still an important part of the modern building complex.
The project: Fitting out the redesigned Poste du Louvre with ophelis sum
Client: La Poste Immo
Planning and realisation: ???
Completion: 2023
The steel architecture of the Poste du Louvre, which has now been revealed, gives the redesigned building an industrial yet modern character. The high windows and straight columns let in plenty of natural light, inviting visitors to linger.
To this end, ophelis sum was used to create various islands for resting and meeting. The modular seating furniture invites people to engage in dialogue with each other, but also offers opportunities to retreat. The slim and minimalist frame construction and the clear design language of the ophelis sum seating furniture picks up on the charm of the steel construction and blends in perfectly with the redesigned building.
